Herts Youth Futures project

Are you a young person aged 15-25 who would like support getting into training or work? Herts Youth Futures is an exciting new project to help you on your journey.

Watford Mencap is pleased to be part of the Herts Youth Futures project which is one of three Building Better Opportunities projects led by Hertfordshire County Council. The project focuses on supporting people to overcome barriers to employment and help them into sustained training or work.

The Big Lottery Fund and ESF have granted Hertfordshire County Council £5.5 million to help boost skills for residents. It brings together public, private and voluntary organisations to create one of the biggest partnerships in the county.

Watford Mencap will be mentoring young people with a learning disability through this step by step programme. Participants entering into the programme will receive 1 to 1 support to help develop the skills, knowledge and confidence they need. The aim is to engage those with complex barriers to employment and support them into sustained employment, volunteering or education.
