Support Worker / Activities Facilitator

Do you want a job where you can make a difference every day?

Would you like to support someone to make the most of their life?

If the answer is Yes, come and work for Watford Mencap. We are recruiting:

SUPPORT WORKER to join our LEARNING & LEISURE PROJECT.

This is a role for 6 hours per week on a Monday between 10am and 4pm.

£9.50 per hour

It's no ordinary job and every day can be different. Most importantly it's about offering opportunities for our clients to experience things that many of us take for granted.

You will support the Manager to plan, co-ordinate and deliver social, leisure and educational activities, both face to face and online, to adults with varying degrees of learning disabilities and support needs. There is a need to maintain a clear focus on learning and development whilst the people grow in confidence in a fun environment.

You will be based in our new centre at 92a Langley Road, Watford, but there will be opportunities to take clients out into the community, so being a driver is preferred.

The job is very varied and will involve delivering a wide range of services including:

· Social activities, including Pryzm club nights

· Specific interest Clubs

· Speaking Up and Advocacy

· Courses - for example Think Safe; Hate Crime Awareness, Friendships, Cookery, Mates Dates and Housemates

· Network for carers of people with Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities.

· Gardening and Allotment Project

· Online activities which include a social and educational programme

This means a flexible ‘can do’ attitude, good IT skills, along with an eye for detail, emotional resilience and being able to juggle a broad and diverse workload are all really important in this role. In return you will find this an extremely rewarding role where you will be making a real difference to peoples’ lives on a daily basis.

We are looking for an Activities Facilitator to work on a Monday 10.00am - 4.00pm. There is the possibility to work additional hours in the week, evenings and Saturday morning events.

If you feel passionately about all people being given an opportunity to live life to the full then this type of job could suit you very well. Previous experience is advantageous but not essential, it is much more important that you share our values and can demonstrate this. You will receive appropriate training to develop skills and increase knowledge.

If you think this sounds like the job for you please ring Helen on 07384 831280 for an informal chat and visit our website www.watfordmencap.org.uk for more details.
