Playworker

Between £8.24 and £11.44 per hour (according to age) + benefits

22 July to 30 August 2024, compulsory training dates: 22 & 23 July

Work during the summer holidays in a fun and energetic team. Join our team of playscheme workers and you will be planning and delivering a variety of stimulating activities and experiences for children and young people with learning disabilities. You will be leading play and leisure sessions to maximise the children’s participation and providing person-centred support.

You will need to be able to attend training sessions on Monday 22nd & Tuesday 23rd July and be able to commit to working a minimum of 3 weeks/15 days between Wednesday 24th July and Friday 30th August 2024. You will be working 8.45am to 4.45pm Monday to Friday.

In addition to working duringt he summer holidays you will have the opportunity to continue working on a casual basis at our after-school clubs: Saturday activities and other school holiday playschemes. This is an ideal role for students in sixth form, college or university.

As Playworker you will be facilitating increased independence by encouraging and supporting participation in daily living activities, decision making and choice. You will provide high-quality support and appropriate social interaction to meet the varying needs of children and young people. You will also provide a link for parents so excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) are key.

You are a positive team player who can form and maintain effective working relationships. You are able to work using your own initiative, plan and prioritise workload, and contribute ideas to support the service delivery.   You have knowledge of the needs of people with a learning disability and challenge discrimination; you are inclusive with an understanding of the importance of choice, control and rights. Ideally you have knowledge and experience of working with children and young people.
