Community Activities Coordinator

Full time, 37.5 hrs pw, £26,270pa

We are recruiting a coordinator to join our Community Activities for Children and Adults team. You will support the Manager to coordinate activities and develop a broad range of services for children and adults with learning disabilities in the local community. You will work closely with the manager and another coordinator to plan and lead adult sessions on a day to day basis, alongside children’s activities, weekly social events and a monthly club night.

Working with another co-ordinator you will develop a wide-range of innovative, varied and exciting opportunities that local people want to take part in, and that make the most of our new Community Hub. The majority of your time will be spent inducting new clients to our services, leading sessions and supporting and developing your team with some admin time to plan and ensure services are compliant.

You will ensure the services are person-centred and tailored to meet individual needs and promote independence. The services should work within financial and contractual frameworks. You will plan sessions, allocate staff and clients, communicate with families and complete risk assessments in regard to activity management.

You will have strong communication skills and are able to have difficult and sensitive conversations. You have experience of delivering a range of activities for children and adults with disabilities. You have experience of engaging with and supporting families and involving clients in the planning, design and implementation of services. You have good people skills. You are able to work on your own initiative, you are proactive and can prioritise your work. You are able to form and maintain effective working relationships with individuals being supported, their families, and colleagues. You will have resilience in managing challenging situations and supporting others to do so. Confident to work alone and take responsibility for opening up and locking up the community hub safely.

In return you will find this a rewarding role. You will be supporting many individuals and families to make the most of life, learning and enjoying new skills and independence. You will be joining a committed and fun team. This is a full-time role, 37.5 hours per week across 5 days Monday to Saturday, including alternating evenings and weekends. You will have a good induction with training and support from your manager and fellow coordinator.
