Operations Manager - Community

Operations Manager – 25 hours per week over 4 days

Circa £23k per annum pro rata (equivalent to £35k pa)

It’s an exciting time of change for Watford Mencap, having just bought a new building to bring together our head office and children’s centre along with our plans to develop a range of brand-new short breaks services. 

We are now looking to appoint a second Operations Manager to support our growth and expansion, this manager will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of our short breaks and community services, which include children’s and young people’s services and adult learning and leisure opportunities along with our Cafe in the library.

You will report into our Head of Operations and work very closely with our other Operations Manager. You will be managing established projects and developing new services and short breaks to grow the business, making bids for new business and looking for new opportunities for the people we support. You will be responsible for community opportunities within the organisation delivering services that support children, young people and adults towards independence, employability and developing new skills as well as ensuring that people enjoy time with their friends, have fun and are actively involved in their local community. This may be through social, leisure or educational activities.  You will also be responsible for leading on the involvement and the participation of people with learning disabilities at all levels of the organisation.

You have a flexible, ‘can do’ approach and you actively engage and involve service users to support service delivery and improvement. You have experience of working at management level in the voluntary sector and of managing teams and leading person-centred children’s and community-based services.

You analyse complex situations and make evidence-based decisions, adapting quickly to change. You build strong relationships and are an excellent communicator. You work collaboratively and drive good customer service.
