Community Buddy

Would you like a job where you can make a difference every day?

Do you feel passionately about all people being given an opportunity to live life to the full?

If the answer is Yes, come and work for Watford Mencap. We are recruiting Community Buddies for our Care and Support Agency.

We are looking for energetic, enthusiastic and passionate people to support adults and children with learning disabilities, both in their own homes and their local community. You will be an important part of the Care and Support Agency team, working individually with people; providing personal care and giving medication, as required. You will have regular clients which will enable you to develop relationships and see individuals flourish over time.

A flexible, “can do” attitude, good IT skills, alongside an eye for detail, emotional resilience and being able to juggle a broad and diverse workload are all really important in this role. In return you will find this an extremely rewarding role where you will be making a real difference to peoples’ lives on a daily basis.

We are recruiting Community Buddies that can work early mornings, afternoons, evenings (mainly up to 9pm) and weekends, either on a permanent basis or as a casual worker.

It's no ordinary job and every day can be different. Most importantly it's about offering opportunities for people to experience things that many of us take for granted. Every day can be different, here are some examples:

· Support families to get ready in the morning

· Support with shopping

· Going out for coffee/lunch/dinner

· A visit to the pub, clubs, cinema/theatre, shows.

· Support with accessing sport/visiting sporting events

· Meeting friends

As a Support Worker you will receive support and leadership from the Team Leader and manager and you will be able to share knowledge and learning with your colleagues both in the Care and Support Agency as well as in the wider organisation

Previous experience can be advantageous but not essential; it is much more important that you share our values and can demonstrate this.

If you think this sounds interesting and would like an informal chat call Hilary on 07384 831280.
