Camelot To Throw Children’s Christmas Party

Watford-based Camelot UK Lotteries Limited, operator of The National Lottery, hopes to make local disabled children’s Christmas a little brighter this year.

Camelot is raising money to hold a fantastic Christmas party at Watford Mencap Children’s Centre on Wednesday 15th December. Their target was to raise over £2000 for the charity, but a dedicated team has already managed to secure over £2800 in donations. On top of this, Camelot will provide matchfunding for every pound raised, up to £3000.

Many of Camelot’s suppliers have already generously supported Camelot in their fundraising ambition. For example, advertising agency AMVBBDO has contributed with a cash donation and has asked other clients to donate party supplies.

This Christmas Party, which will be enjoyed by 30 members of the Children’s Centre, will provide at least 25 families with over three hours of respite, meaning that the families and carers can take time out to spend quality time with their other children or even start their Christmas shopping. Watford Mencap Children’s Centre costs £200,000 every year to run, so any extra money raised by Camelot will go towards the running of the Centre.

Harriet Pearce, Insight Research Executive, a member of the team leading the fundraising, said: “I’m delighted that we are supporting Watford Mencap Children’s Centre Christmas party. The organisation offers invaluable support and a nurturing environment for children with learning disabilities. The fundraising is a great way to give something back to the local community and we have been overwhelmed by people’s generosity.”

Lauren McEvoy from Watford Mencap said, “The party will not only give local children a special treat this Christmas but it will also offer families and carers a much-needed break. Camelot’s support of Watford Mencap and the local community has been fantastic and we are thrilled to be able to benefit from the company’s community spirit.”
