Volunteer Receives Digital Hero Award

Watford Mencap volunteer, Nick Clark, received a Digital Heroes employee award from TalkTalk at a ceremony held at the House of Lords on Monday 6th December 2010.

TalkTalk, in association with Citizens Online and the Daily Mirror, launched this year’s Digital Heroes awards. They celebrate people who use digital inclusion to benefit their local communities, bringing positive social change.

Nick, who was awarded a grant of £1000 for Watford Mencap, has been volunteering for the charity for over five years. Working on the Learning and Leisure project, Nick has helped provide IT classes to people with learning disabilities. Recent courses have included internet, email, skype and facebook.

Lata Rees, Watford Mencap’s project co-ordinator, congratulated Nick on this thoroughly-deserved honour and thanked him for his unwavering support. She also thanked Talk Talk for their generous contribution, which will mean more people with learning disabilities will benefit.
