Watford Mencap supporter wins a place in the London Marathon 2011

Watford Mencap supporter, Bernie Byers, has won a place in the London Marathon 2011. The race, which happens in April, is a gruelling 26 miles and ran by over 10,000 runners for a whole range of charities and Bernie has decided to complete the challenge in aid of Watford Mencap

Bernie is no stranger to sporting challenges. In 2010, Bernie and his partner Julia ran a half marathon ‘Run to the Beat’ for Watford Mencap in memory of Bernie’s sister Patsy. Patsy had Down's Syndrome and sadly passed away last year. Patsy used a number of Mencap’s services and Bernie appreciates how crucial these services are.

In his last challenge, Bernie managed to raise over £570 for Watford Mencap and is hoping to raise even more this time round. Please show your support for Bernie by sponsoring him at www.justgiving.com/Bernie-Byers and keep checking back for updates on Bernie’s training. Watford Mencap would like to congratulate Bernie on winning his place in the race.
