Great Watford Walk Raises £12,000 for Three Local Charities

Three Watford charities were presented with the proceeds from the Great Watford Walk, in Cassiobury Park on Friday 25th March. The walk raised £12,000, giving Watford Mencap, The Peace Hospice and Watford New Hope Trust £4000 each.

The 10k walk, which was previously known as the Big Herts Walk, has now raised over £90,000 for the local charities. Sponsored by Sigma Pharmaceuticals, it is a scenic walk in Cassiobury Park and Whippendell Woods and has always been aimed at local families.

Bharat Shah, Managing Director of Sigma Pharmaceuticals said: ‘The idea was to get the major charities working together and I feel it’s worked. Together we have managed to get £4,000 for each charity.’

Patron of the Great Watford Walk, Richard Harrington, said “I am delighted to be a patron and supporter of the Great Watford Walk. I very much enjoyed being part of this fantastic event, held for a wonderful cause and I was very impressed by all those who came out to support these important Watford charities.”

Watford Mencap, Watford New Hope Trust and the Peace Hospice would like to thank Sigma Pharmaceuticals, Medtronic, Telecom Resource Mothercare, Total, Dhamecha, the Harlequin and Richard Harrington for their support.
