YourCash rolls up its sleeves to support Watford Mencap

On Monday 4th July a team from Milton Keynes based YourCash Limited, Europe's leading independent provider of ATM solutions, carried out a team challenge in aid of learning disability charity, Watford Mencap.

YourCash have been working in partnership with their key supplier VocaLink, the international payment specialist, on a programme of activities to support Watford Mencap in 2011.

Both companies took part in Monday’s challenge to help convert a property in Rickmansworth on behalf of Watford Mencap. Once completed, the property will offer a home to four people with learning disabilities enabling them to live as independent adults, but with the security of having the Watford Mencap staff nearby.

The project team were tasked to improve the external features of the house including removing the front drive paving, preparing and laying turf in the back garden and painting the garden walls. The week before the challenge saw the YourCash team raise over £800 to pay for materials required to carry out the renovations. Fundraising activities included washing cars, cake and samosa sales, ‘dress up’ and ‘dress down’ days and a hugely popular Nintendo Wii ‘dance off’!

David Porter, Fundraising Project Manager from YourCash, commented: ‘It was great to see the whole of YourCash join in the fundraising events last week and the generosity of the business was fantastic.  Equally we are proud to support this project and had a great day working with Watford Mencap and the team from VocaLink’.

Mark Chapman, Director of Marketing and Chairman of CSR at VocaLink, said: ‘Providing housing benefits is just one way in which Watford Mencap value and help people with a learning disability locally. We are very pleased to be working with YourCash to support Watford Mencap.’
