Sandy Lodge Golf Club Presents Watford Mencap with New Vehicle

On Sunday 4 September Sandy Lodge Golf Club officially presented Watford Mencap with the keys to a newly adapted Renault Kangoo vehicle. This followed the raising of £17,268 by the Club in its Centenary Year. Watford Mencap was the Club’s Centenary Charity. A second adapted vehicle is to be purchased later in the year.

David Scammell, the Club’s Centenary Captain, presented the vehicle to Watford Mencap residents with Lesley Mulley, Centenary Ladies Captain. Mark Ramprakash, the former England Cricketer and Sandy Lodge member also attended to welcome the visitors.

Veronica Chamberlain, Funding Manager said: ‘This is an amazing achievement; I do not think any group of individuals has raised that much money for us in recent years. The vehicles that Sandy Lodge have funded come at a time when our services are facing up to 25% cuts in their funding, so this will really help us to ensure that the people we support can get out and about.’

David Scammell, Centenary Captain, explained: 'Sandy Lodge members care about the local community and I am delighted we have raised so much money for such a good cause.’
