Learning Disability Week

To celebrate our caring super heroes, people with a learning disability and their families are invited to a selection of events hosted by Watford Mencap during Learning Disability Week.

On Thursday 22nd August we are offering ladies with a learning disability the opportunity to be pampered! Ladies can enjoy hand and faces massage, nail painting, make-up application as well as the chance for a good girlie gossip with friends. For all the details check out our Pamper Poster.

On Friday 23rd August we are inviting people with a learning disability to a Family Day at our Centre on St Albans Road. Stay and play at the centre and take part in the ‘Talk to the animals session’. Enjoy a shared lunch and an afternoon on fun with a children’s entertainer.

Also on the morning of Friday 23rd August our residents at Thorpedale will be running a cake stall in Chorleywood Village Centre to raise money and awareness. Our residents are very keen bakers and often use fresh eggs from their pet chicken to bake their cakes! Definitely not one to miss for those with a sweet tooth!

The Hertfordshire Partnership Community Assessment and Treatment Service teams are also organising activities to celebrate the occasion, to find out more please take a look at their poster.
