Come along to the Secret Art Sale!

Watford Mencap will be holding a three day Secret Art Sale at the Café in the Park in Rickmansworth Aquadrome on September 27th, 28th and 29th.

Sponsored by VocaLink and the Café in the Park, the event promises to be an exhibition with a difference, with all contributed artwork selling at only £35 a piece and all proceeds going to Watford Mencap.

Each piece has been individually created on either a 6in by 4in postcard or a 5in by 5in canvas and the secret lies in who is behind its creation.

It may be a celebrity, a member of the local community, a person with a learning disability or even a professional artist.

Among the artwork on offer is a piece by Christine Kubrick, wife of the late director Stanley Kubrick, an established artist whose paintings often sell for thousands of pounds.

Other contributors include actor Anthony Head and his daughter Emily Head, both well-known actors on screen and TV. The Mayor of Watford, Dorothy Thornhill, and Richard Harrington, MP have also kindly contributed their artistic efforts.

Liz Hizli, Watford Mencap’s Community fundraiser said: "We are really excited about this new fundraising event which would not be possible without the generosity and talent of so many people.

"We would like to thank Carly, Ian and Tina of The Café in The Park for their continued support. They have kindly given their function room for free for the 3 days, plus the launch evening catering at cost, sponsored by VocaLink.

"This is a great opportunity to own a piece of original artwork for only £35 whilst supporting a very worthy, local cause."

The Café in the Park is a keen supporter of people with learning disabilities and has offered volunteer opportunities to a number of people who use Watford Mencap’s services.
